Regular checkups help keep your animal companions in optimal health. We recommend an annual examination for all adult pets. During your pet's visit, we will perform a thorough exam and discuss any medical concerns. All pets must have an exam prior to vaccination. We will also counsel you on feeding, parasite control, behavior and other ways to ensure the best health possible for your best friend.
Did you know that regular dental healthcare can add up to 5 years to your pets life? More than 85% of adult pets have periodontal disease. Not only can dental disease can lead to pain, bad breath and tooth loss, serious internal medical conditions can also develop. Chronic oral infections can spread harmful bacteria through the bloodstream to the heart, lungs, liver & kidneys. We examine your pet's mouth at every checkup, and will educate you on home care and professional cleanings fundamental to good dental health. During dental cleaning procedures we use IV fluid support, ultrasonic scaling & polishing, antibiotics to treat infections, and pain management to ensure comfort.
As in human medicine, we rely on diagnostic tools to evaluate "hidden" problems. Fractured bones, enlarged hearts or other organs, fluid or air in the chest or abdomen, identification of foreign bodies (animals eat the weirdest things!), arthritis, bladder stones, growths or tumors, all can be visualized through radiography. Our experienced staff and high quality equipment enables us to have accurate radiographs available in just minutes, whether your patient is the smallest bird or the largest dog!
When your pet is entrusted to our care for surgery, safety is our first priority. Advanced anesthesia and monitoring equipment allows us to provide the very best care available. A pre-operative exam and blood screen will be used to identify hidden health concerns.
We are able to perform routine blood work, and SNAP testing for heartworms and certain other infections, fecal (stool) parasite analysis, ear and skin diagnostics, cytologic exams, urinalysis, and other tests, all on-site. In addition, we use the very best in reference diagnostic laboratories for more comprehensive testing.
Because pain occurs with many diseases, traumatic conditions and even routine surgery, our doctors take a proactive approach to managing acute and chronic pain. We tailor pain medications to each patient and carefully consider the appropriate medication based on factors such as age and health status of the individual pet. We take pride in keeping apprised of the most current pain protocols and techniques.
Your pet's overall health begins with your daily routines, including diet. We are what we eat! Our staff can help by providing guidance with your pet's specific nutritional needs.
We offer a wide variety of behavioral services through Greywolf Animal Behavior Center, located adjacent to the Hospital. Group classes include: Puppy Happy Start, Courteous K9s (Basic & Advanced), Training Games, Trick Training, and Pre-Agility. We also offer private lessons, custom training, and behavior modification. We also host seminars on timely topics.
We appreciate any donations to help less fortunate pet owners meet their veterinary needs. Feel free to inquire about how you can help. Adoption opportunities are also occasionally available.
We offer secure, separate dog and cat boarding accommodations for a stress-free stay. Please inquire for further details.
